Nature v Nurture Theory

Post by PsychologicalNut »

My science project topic is on the Nature vs Nurture theory. My aim is to find out if a human's personality is shaped mostly by genes or by upbringing and experiences. Most websites are vague on this. Can someone tell me how I can come to my conclusion, and maybe give some insight? It's a pretty difficult topic.

Hello!

You're right, this is quite a difficult topic. For your project, I'm guessing you still have to do your experiment, and the scientific method and more detailed steps for this can be found here:

I found a few sources so you can read up on the topic in a little more detail. This one is a very simple article:

And this one is an essay from a psychology website, but is a little more difficult to read:

I hope this provides a little more information for your project! :D

Hello and welcome to the forum!

This is a very difficult project topic, but did require some creative thinking on your part to come up with. Congrats! You may want to take a look at this study performed by a university professor that can help you with your background research for a psychology project:

As you can see, this was a very large study and required a lot of human participants. For this reason you may want to try a project with a similar topic that can be performed on a smaller scale, such as a survey experiment. Or, try a quick search for psychology experiments on the ScienceBuddies website. Here are some you may be interested in:

You should also look into different psychological phenomena or occurrences that come from human behavior and response to certain scenarios. A quick Google search should give you tons of great ideas.

Hope this helps!
