High frequency as pest deterrent

I am working on a project to use recycled self watering 2lt and 5lt plastic bottles to grow vegetables. I have read that a high frequency 20-60 kHz may act as a pest deterrent. The containers are filled with 15% water and the above compartment is filled with soil. I just wanted to know if it is possible to get a high frequency sound by using a straw or similar that extended from above the soil to the water below? .
