How Old is The Universe Experiment

Post by andrewfien »

When creating the H-R Diagram in excel from the spreadsheet provided by SDSS, the turnoff points appear to have a G-R Color which is out of the spectrum given in the Spectral Classification table. How can I make changes in order to interpret and analyze the H-R Diagram more clearly as I have followed every step provided and yet the graphs are far from understandable?

Hi - could you let us know which of the three star clusters from Table 2 you're trying for the project? As suggested in step 5 of the "Making an H-R diagram" part of the procedure, you may need to try changing the number of arcminutes before downloading data so you can get a better graph. That might make it easier to interpret the graph and find the turnoff points.
