"I will be assisting my daughter [in performing] your experiment referenced above on Algae growth. After reviewing the procedures developed by your team, I have the following question related to observing the Algae growth:
When you state make a scale from 1 to 5 for the relative algae growth in the notebook and record the value for the amount of growth each day, how do you determine what is a 1 versus a 5 in term of algae growth? Can you help me understand this before I begin the experiment?"

Re: Quantifying Algae Growth
In this experiment, you will use a relative scale to measure the algae growth, meaning the recorded measurements will be derived by comparing each of the experimental groups. On the scale, 5 can represent cultures with the most growth while 1 can represent those with the least growth. Thus, you should assign numbers based on your observations. Cultures with the most growth should be given 5's and those with minimal/no growth 1's. Those in between should be given numbers 2-4.
