Replicating heavy metals in marine waters safely at home

Post by NCa »

My experiment is about marine toxicity from heavy metals and its impact on plant growth. I am trying to replicate the toxic water at home but cannot find a safe alternative I can purchase OTC and dissolve easily. The heavy metals listed as usual marine pollutants are Lead, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Mercury, Arsenic, barium etc. Is there a way to replicate these in a home lab? Can I use Calcium Chloride concentrations to depict heavy metal water? If not, what can I find at a pharmacy, or online to replicate Heavy Metal contaminated marine water. Please help!
