Production of Sodium Hydroxide

Post by suki~ »

This is for a science research project, any help will be appreciated.

What are some disadvantages and advantages for the industrial production of sodium hydroxide by:

a) Mercury Process

b) Diaphragm Process

c) Membrane Process

And what are some technical and environmental difficulties involved in each of the processes described?

Hi, suki~!

The answers to the questions you are asking should be determined through your own research. Just based on your formulation of the questions, you seem to already know a great deal about the topic. What remains for you is to go ahead and conduct your research.

I suggest that you investigate the processes that you listed and create some form of comparison table or matrix so that you can evaluate the pros and cons.

A web search should yield plenty of information to get you started.

Best wishes!
