Storage of methanol extracts in refrigerators.?

Post by torrequemada »

Hi!
I just extracted leaves of indigo with methanol and i would like to ask about some things.
(1) Will the extract lose some compounds/chemicals when stored in a refrigerator for a very long time?
(2) If yes, how long will it take?
(3) In what other aspects will i have to look into so as to store the methanolic extract efficiently.

From what I've heard, samples in methanol can begin losing compounds within a month of storage. Depending on the chemicals, it could be much slower or much faster--I would suggest analyzing them as soon as possible. If you can't, you can't, and then that's just something to bring up in your discussion.
