I was thinking maybe: which soda tastes better? diet coke, or the plain coca cola?? Is this a good topic??

I think it is good, but only as an introductory level science project. It helps the student learn the basic scientific method of running controlled experiments and analyzing results to reach a conclusion. However, it may be too simplistic depending on your grade level. Science Buddies has a similar project described in their science project idea section here:
