Help finding a project?

Post by SarahSkye »

I'm interested in Math, and also computer programming. I don't have much experience with programming, just QBASIC, but I'm willing to learn new programming languages. I have a lot of time to do the project, until February of 2013, lol. But I can't seem to find a project online that I want to do. I'm actually interested in many areas of science, but I'm most interested in Math and computers. It would be nice to come up with a project that combines math/computers with something else. Like last year I did a probability project that included QBASIC programming and the game Clue. I want to do a project that will actually help someone, and be useful.

Does anyone have any ideas that might help me?

Welcome to Science Buddies,

Here are some suggestions to get you started. Try the Science Buddies Project Wizard at: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... deas.shtml

It will ask you some questions and recommend some science buddies projects to you. You can start there to see if any of them seem interesting. If not, the additional resources listed in any one of those might lead you to something else that catches your eye. In the mean time, A quick search and I came up with the following 3 that might be of interest...although they may be easier than you are looking for, but here goes:

Follow the Bouncing Ball: A Web Animation Project -
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... Q&from=TSW

Forms and Functions: Writing a Simple Calculator Program with JavaScript -
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... Q&from=TSW

ABC's of Programming: Writing a Simple 'Alphabetizer' with JavaScript -
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... Q&from=TSW

You can always expand upon the basic premise of any project to make it more challenging. Please post back with any additional questions.
Hope this helps.
