This video shows an example use of 3D printing--using a 3D printer to make a plastic mold for a soft robot gripper. The printer feeds a spool of ABS plastic filament into a heated nozzle. This melts the plastic, and it is extruded through a narrow hole at the tip of the nozzle onto a build platform. When it comes in contact with the platform, the plastic quickly cools and solidifies.
