Help thinking of an idea on Homeostasis Help thinking of an idea on Homeostasis Hello, I was wondering if I could have some help trying to think of 9th grade level homeostasis lab that a whole class could participate in. I'm trying to think of this idea because right now my school is using a goldfish lab, that makes me feel really bad for the goldfish, to demonstrate how homeostasis happens within organisms. My original idea was to have the temperature of the room at three different… Read more

the big bang the big bang so if I understand correctly Richard Feynman proved that antimatter is flowing through time in the opposite direction... i hear about the paradox of where all the antimatter went during the big bang. why do we observe only matter left over? if antimatter flows in the opposite direction in time, wouldn't it be flowing further into our past from the point of origin? wouldnt the two have been separated by their respective directions of time instantly? (time being a… Read more

Drugs & Genetics Drugs & Genetics Hello there, I have to prepare a project for my science fair and was interested in working on “Drugs & Genetics: why do some people respond to drugs differently than others.” This looks like a research project to me but can I use it in my science fair? I don’t have to do any experiments, I’ll be researching the database online so will it qualify as a project for science fair? Thanks Re: Drugs &… Read more
DNA Damage Lab Using UV and Yeast DNA Damage Lab Using UV and Yeast Hello! I am exploring DNA damage by testing how UV Rays affect yeast. The procedure originally says to use the sun for the UV rays however, in case of bad weather I wanted to know if an artificial UV source such as a UV light would have the same effect? Thank you! Phospholipids in a non-polar substance Phospholipids in a non-polar substance In class, we were recently taught that in water, phospholipids form a lipid bilayer with the polar heads touching water and the non-polar tails facing each other. In that case, if we were to put phospholipids in a non-polar substance, would the polar heads face each other and the non-polar tails face the non-polar substance? Read more

Which cereal has more iron? Which cereal has more iron? Hi, I have a student who is conducting the science fair experiment: Which cereal contains more iron. The process requires him to soak the cereal for 5 min. in hot water and then to run a bar magnet through the cereal. We are not having any success. Can you please help me to trouble shoot this problem? Re: Which cereal has more iron? Is this the project the student is doing:… Read more
