Enzyme-Catalyzed Reaction
Enzyme-Catalyzed Reaction
Why does the enzyme catalyst bring the coffee filter square down? It goes up because the catalyst broke down the hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen and the oxygen is less dense than hydrogen peroxide right?

Electrolytes and Multimeter Device - Chemistry
Electrolytes and Multimeter Device - Chemistry
I am doing the "Electrolyte Challenge: Orange Juice Vs. Sports Drink" Science Experiment. On the Procedure Tab, under Measuring the Conductance, Step #8 it says
- Record the current. Again, make sure you record the correct units. Since your multimeter dial is set to 200m, this reading is in milliamps (mA), not microamps (μA). It says the Multimeter needs to be set to 200m when testing…

Ascorbic acid and Massospora cicadina
Ascorbic acid and Massospora cicadina
Hello, I am a high school junior interested in conducting a research project on ascorbic acid's effects on Massospora cicadina and cicadas.
I have only done cursory research on this topic, but I want to ensure this is achievable given my limited resources before investigating in greater depth.
Is it possible to gain access to cicadas and a fungal pathogen, Massospora cicadina, at an affordable price?

Modified post: Zeolite synthesis from rice husk ash
(This is a modified version of an earlier post I created)
Hello, I am a high school junior interested in conducting an experiment involving the synthesis of zeolites from rice husk ash. So far my research has indicated that I need to use a hydrothermal reaction to produce these zeolites, but I do not have access to an autoclave or a controlled heat source. My goal is to create a habitat…

Cool careers in science/health?
Hey Reddit! I'm in need of some career advice. I just graduated with a bachelor's degree in ecology & evolutionary biology and a minor in sustainability studies and don't know what to do with it. I am looking for job where I don't have to sit all day, I like to be moving. I like to be outdoors but also fine with a non-sedentary job inside since I'm not the most rough and tumble kind of gal (being outside in pouring rain all…

Glass tubing: Advice
Glass tubing: Advice
Recently watched a video posted by Jaytwocents on youtube where he used glass tubing. I am curious and would like to hear from anybody who has worked with glass and could offer advice. Additionally, your thoughts on how glass tubing looks compared to PETG would be appreciated. I am currently considering making the change in my free time.
Appreciate any advice.

can water float on water? question
can water float on water? question
My school does an unusual kind of science fair where we're doing our project lots of times, quickly, for different groups of people. Since I don't have 10 minutes to let the salt water and fresh water mix, would using smaller bottles work? I'm hoping it wouldn't change the results, and could decrease the amount of time I'm using up.
