My students are working on building the line-following robot. I think I am struggling setting up a course for them that the robot will follow the line. What line thickness do you recommend for the course? We have tried several ways to slow down the robot as well, what are some other tricks that you recommend for that?

For the track.... there is no specific width recommendation, but wider is generally better. It gives the sensor more time to react. (As an estimate, you might try 2-3 widths of electrical tape instead of just one.)
For slowing down the BlueBot, did you try reducing the number of batteries? That is the recommendation in the project. The wider track line should also help.
We also recommend making sure the track has gradual curves rather than sharp turns.
