Yogurt, biofuel, biodegradable plastics, and antibiotics are all examples of products
based on biotechnology research and manufacturing techniques. What else will we be able to create as we use biotechnology in new ways?
Unsure of what the steps of the scientific method are? Not sure how to apply the scientific method? Watch how we use the scientific method to explore the science of popping boba – fun juice filled balls that pop in your mouth. This video demonstrates the laboratory activity in the lesson plan, "The Science of a GMO." Students use an inquiry-based approach to observe 2 soybean seeds phenotypically through observation followed by genotypically through a simple protein detection test to determine the similarities and differences of a conventional (non-GM) soybean and a GM soybean.
